Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
All children are entitled to receive a free school meal, regardless of household income, providing they are in a government funded school and in Reception, Year 1, or Year 2. This entitlement is called Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM).
You'll need to let your school know that you'd like to take advantage of this entitlement.
Most schools will also check if you are eligible for benefits-related free school meals when you request UIFSM. Even if you are entitled to UIFSM, if you get certain benefits, it's still worth making an application for benefits-related free school meals as well. If you are eligible, your child's school may receive extra funding.
Please speak to your school about how to apply.
Year 3 and older
Children in Key Stage 2 (years 3-6) are required to pay for their school lunches at a cost of £2.80 a day or £14.00 a week. These meals must be paid for in advance using our online payment facility. If you need any assistance with this please contact the school office.
Pupils may be eligible for free school meals if their parents receive one or more qualifying benefits. If you think your child may be entitled to free school meals, contact your school to apply.
Packed Lunches
Children may also to bring in a healthy packed lunch from home if they do not require a hot meal. We ask families to provide nutritious and healthy lunches for their children, avoiding sweets, chocolate and fizzy or fruit drinks. Please note that we are a nut free school and packed lunches should not contain nuts, peanuts or nut based products as we have children with serious nut allergies.
If you would like to change your child’s meal arrangements you should notify the office in writing via email info@grovelands.surrey.sch.uk. A minimum of one week's notice is required.
